Nikki heads up the Pre-School. She is a fully trained Montessori teacher and her experience includes working in a nursery in Ireland for over 10 years where she was part of the High Scope initiative and had training in Special Needs teaching.  Nikki is also a deputy safeguarding lead for the school.

Alison is trained to level 3 in Supporting teaching and learning in schools. She has previously worked as a police officer and after having her own family and through her work with Church groups discovered a love for working with little ones. Alison runs her own horticulture business and contributes her experience with gardening and chickens to the school.

Carina is also trained to level 3. She has a degree in English and Drama, an MA in Creative Writing and has previously worked in creative arts. She enjoys sharing her love of cooking and baking with the little ones and is also a trustee/governor at the school.

Katherine represents the Infant Department on the Senior Leadership Team of the school. Her area of special interest is special needs and mathematics. Katherine trained at Forest Independent Primary Collegiate. She worked as a specialist teacher for children with ASD for the local authority as well as working with children in mainstream education.

An education for the whole family

The Pre-school at The Christian School is nestled within our small and nurturing school family where it has its own dedicated space in our infant provision. Your child will benefit from being a valued member of a small group of no more than ten with a high ratio of staff to children led by Nikki, our Montessori teacher. Each child is truly cared for individually and their skills and talents are developed through Montessori methods in our relaxed, caring and fun environment. Our teaching integrates the child focused activities of Montessori into the Early Years Curriculum and our experienced teachers always keep the child at the centre of everything and seek the best for each child. Their experience and resources mean that children thrive.

We have fully government-funded places of 15 or 30 hours and offer a choice of sessions including full days (9am-3pm) for all children aged 3-5.

Faith is very important to all our staff and they are all part of their own local churches of various denominations where they are involved in a variety of ministries and leadership roles including running children’s and young people’s groups amongst other things. We believe this brings an added dimension to their teaching.

Parents are welcomed into our small and friendly school community where staff and parents work together to create a loving and nurturing environment for all our pupils. Many of our staff are also parents at the school including all of our infant department staff. We offer a rare opportunity to be involved in the learning process which includes access to a secure online journal of what is going on at school with the option of making your own contributions.

Faith, hope and love in action

Child Centred Education

The Pre-school is open to all children from age three regardless of whether you are thinking of sending them to our school and there will be no disadvantage in applying for a place at another school as nursery and pre-school placements have no bearing on the school application process.

We welcome visitors and would love to see you if you would like to find out more.

All Pre-School staff are trained in paediatric first aid. Safeguarding is embedded into the way the school works and the Pre-school is part of the wider school management and planning.
